New Horizons Was Done Dirty
05 Dec, 2024
I've been getting into Animal Crossing recently, and just want to talk about how much they fucked over New Horizons and what I would change for whatever entry we get on the Switch 2.
More Villager Variety
An issue I have with the villagers is their personalities, which is most apparent when visiting others' islands. Since each villager has a "personality type" instead of a wholy unique one, it means that you're very likely to encounter one with an identical personality to one of your own on a friend's island. It kinda ruins the illusion of the villagers feeling alive, you know? If you really wanna keep the personality type system, I feel like the best solution would be to have a list of "quirks" or something that could be applied to different villagers within the same personality type to make them all unique or something.
What Do I Actually Do?
I feel that there's a bit of a lack of direction in the game at times. Obviously there's random stuff to do like fish, catch bugs, gather wood, etc; but there's little to do between major events that isn't just gathering materials or decorating, and I feel that the game is hurt because of that. I get it's not really the kind of game to have very active gameplay, but I'd appreciate something.
Not Enough Buildings
There are also very few required buildings aside from villager housing, just two shops and the museum. Personally, I think it would be nice to have a separate shop for wallpaper, flooring, and house decor; rather than having to rely on the tiny list of rotating items in Nook's Cranny.
Another short post today, just trying to keep the blog from dying lol. I'll probably release a bit of a weird review tomorrow, so stay tuned.
