What I Want For The Switch 2
30 Nov, 2024
Just a short post today about my general hopes for whatever the Switch successor ends up being. Brothership review part 2 should be out in the coming weeks, no promises though.
Super Mario Maker 3
One of my favorite games on the Switch (actually, that might be something good to talk about at some point) that I think got kinda fucked by the Animal Crossing treatment. The extra powerups, Koopalings, and (admittedly basic) super world system were all nice; but released a little slowly, leading it to feel like the game didn't really get much support. I'm not really one to advocate for more special game styles (I barely used the 3D World style), but I think a sequel is due for some more level themes. Towers, beaches, mountains, and whatnot would be nice to have for more level variety. Also, bring back 100 Mario alongside endless please.
More Personality
Something I think the Switch severely lacks (which I'll go over more in a dedicated post) is personality. The menus are all bland grays, lack interesting shapes or layouts, and feature no music whatsoever. I feel like it's just a huge downgrade from the 3DS (with its themes, interesting layout, and music) and even the Wii U in terms of fun; which is crazy because Nintendo has usually been very consistent at making their UIs interesting. Even if they want to keep the same general layout as the Switch, I'd appreciate at least some themes to choose from.
Custom Profile Pictures
I actually really like the Switch Online profile picture system; it gives you a reason to check in every once in a while and lets you have profile pictures from whatever game you're into recently. Having the icon selection be a list from the games you own, rather than a limited time event for whatever random game Nintendo pulled out of their ass, would be nice.
Again, this was just meant to be a short post to bridge the gap between larger ones (I just don't like how large time gaps look). I'm sure I'll cook up something a little more interesting soon...probably.
