So DOORS on Roblox just released the new Outdoors sub-floor, and I played through it with a friend a beat it just after a couple hours. So, I felt like writing a general review of the sub-floor and its mechanics.
(This was really fun; if you can, I'd suggest going into it blind and coming back to this after :P)
The General Stuff
The aesthetics of the Outdoors are unmatched, definitely the best DOORS has done so far. I really like how all the entities tie together, which is one of my bigger gripes with the Hotel. The thunderstorm going on the whole time while you deal with a literal lightning monster, the eye trees signalling Eyestalk's encounter, the monuments everywhere making me paranoid as fuck, it's all very well done :]
Entity Design
Unlike the Mines, which I think is complete bullshit, I think the entities here are actually pretty well balanced. The Groundskeeper being a near constant looming threat is cool; I like how they're pretty generous and even kills some other entities that try to screw with you. Mandrakes are a bit of a pain, but not nearly as bad as Screech and Giggle from the other floors, but fuck Snares I hate them. Surge is an interesting spin on the typical "rushes through the room" monster, though I feel that closets aren't nearly common enough for how often the thing likes to catch you in the middle of nowhere. Sometimes Surge straight up just kills you, but oh well. Then there's the Monuments, holy shit. They make me constantly paranoid for whether they're around or not, and were one of the things I died to the most (behind Surge).
Then there's the big guys, Eyestalk and Bramble. Eyestalk's chase is neat, I like the theming, though it is a little bland compared to Seek's encounters. The song is nice, though. The final encounter with Bramble was really cool, I liked the cutscenes with it and the Groundskeeper, though it was honestly kinda piss-easy. It was really easy to figure out how it works and after that it was just a case of waiting for it to leave you alone. Oh yeah, also Bramble's design is really cool B) It was one of the few entities that actually manages to be somewhat scary (alongside Figure).
But yeah generally it was pretty good I liked it
